Where To Go
Lake St. Catherine State Park offers fishing opportunities and provides complimentary fishing equipment through the REEL FUN loaner program. There's also camping, swimming, and a playground available with the purchase of an entrance fee. You can rent a boat at the park.
There is a Let’s Go Fishing workshop offered this summer every Saturday at 10:00am with the last clinic of the season on August 25. No registration is required. At the workshop, participants learn how to tie fishing knots, make fishing lures, understand fishing regulations, and learn to use spin-casting rods to catch fish.
Fish You'll Find
Lake St. Catharine has some great fishing where you can catch such species as largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, crappie, bullhead, bluegill, and pumpkinseed sunfish.
Mid-April through mid-May is the best time to catch panfish, but they can be caught all year. Bass and pike fishing are best from mid-May through September.
Fishing Tips
For panfish around the weeds, cast a bobber with a split shot, single hook and bait such as a worm or minnow to the edges of weeds or to open pockets within the weeds. Casting in-line spinners, spoons and crankbaits around the sandbar at the mouth of Endless Brook can be productive for bass and trout. If you have a boat, try Cones Point and Cones Bay along Route 30.
