Online Public Hearings on Regulation Changes

Two public hearings will be held by the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Board on proposed changes to the turkey hunting regulation and the regulation on reporting requirements for hunters who take big game during hunting seasons.

Turkey Hunting Regulation Change

The turkey regulation proposal deletes unnecessary definitions, defines youth and novice hunters, establishes a novice turkey hunting weekend at the same time as the youth turkey hunting weekend, sets requirements related to hunting licenses and the attendance of an unarmed adult hunter for youth and novice hunters, and amends shot size to allow smaller shot.

Big Game Reporting Regulation Change

The big game reporting regulation proposal allows the Commissioner to authorize hunters to report turkey and deer electronically, by telephone or any other method.  It also allows the Commissioner to allow electronic reporting of moose and bear in an emergency.
