About the Commissioner
Chris Herrick is the commissioner for Fish & Wildlife and was appointed in October 2021. Herrick served as deputy commissioner at the Department of Public Safety (DPS) and prior to that as the Director of Vermont Emergency Management before becoming commissioner. In total he has spent nearly 25 years working for DPS.
Herrick has been involved his local community, serving as a volunteer firefighter, an EMT and as well as stints on both the Select Board and School Board. Additionally, he is also an avid outdoorsman enjoying everything from kayaking to fly fishing, hunting, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking with his dog Lucy
