Vermont has two bear hunting seasons.  The early season, which requires a special bear tag, starts September 1, and continues through November 10

A hunting license is required, and a waterfowl hunter 16 or older must carry current federal and Vermont duck stamps. 

Summer is when some species of bats gather in colonies, to raise their young in human-made structures

Hikers and rock climbers can return to Vermont cliffs now that peregrine falcon nesting season has ended.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department now has information on its website about the 2023 controlled waterfowl hunts

Impacts to Vermont’s fish populations and river habitats from the July flood will take time to assess.
