Volunteers with the Let's Go Fishing Program encourage and teach young people and their families how to fish, emphasizing that fishing is more than just catching fish.
During this one-day training participants will learn how to conduct aquatic education programing in their communities.
If you are an educator needing professional development credits we now offer the training as part of a one-credit course through Castleton University called Experiential Education in Aquatic Ecology and Habitat Conservation. This is a great option for teachers that want to bring aquatic education into the classroom and also need continuing education credits.
This clinic is for beginning fly fishers of all ages. All equipment is provided. Topics covered include basic tackle, entomology, regulations, ethics, casting, fly selection, and fisheries management.

This event is part of the department’s Children’s Fishing Program, designed to give kids the opportunity for a fun and successful fishing experience. The event is sponsored by a local organization and the department provides 8 to 10” stocked trout for the kids to test out their angling skills.

Learn the basics of fly fishing in a fun hands-on environment. Topics will include casting, entomology, regulations, and more. Class time will be split between land and water. All equipment will be provided. Space is limited.

Learn the basics of bullhead fishing during this hands-on course! Topics covered will include fishing techniques, knot tying, equipment, and much more. Participants should bring a headlamp/flashlight, chair if desired, and warm clothing.
