The project was funded by a grant awarded to Fish and Wildlife by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation under the Clean Water Initiative Program.
Biologists are collecting middle incisor teeth from deer to help estimate population size, growth rate, health, and mortality rates, and to evaluate regional differences in ages of bucks.
“Research has shown that lower moose densities, like in the rest of Vermont, support relatively few winter ticks that do not impact moose populations,” said Fortin
