Understanding Bats and Bat Habitat
Vermont has nine species of bats. How are they doing? Is white-nose syndrome still a concern? How can you encourage them on your property through habitat management? They eat tons of insects. Alyssa Bennett, a biologist with the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department will share all about bats. Landowner Tracy Winn will share her management goals and how wildlife benefits. We will discuss microhabitat features such as tree cavities and peeling bark to features such as forest openings and canopy closure. By the end of this outing, you will be able to think like a bat.
