Vt Fish & Wildlife Installing Water Control Devices on Beaver Dams

To prevent flooding on nearby roads, the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department recently completed construction of 19 water control devices on beaver dams in locations throughout Vermont. Known as ‘beaver baffles’ these devices allow some water to pass through the dam without breaching the dam and destroying the wetland.

Bobcat Caught on Game Camera in Brandon VT

This bobcat was caught in a series of photos on a game camera set up under a bridge in Brandon, Vermont. The cameras are put out as part of a collaborative partnership between Vermont Fish & Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy, and VTrans to better understand wildlife movement around road crossing structures.

New Dead Creek Visitor Center Opens for Season May 11

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is announcing that the Dead Creek Visitor Center in Addison, Vermont, will be opening for the season on Friday, May 11. The visitor center will be open Fridays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through August and will offer a variety of free programs for all ages throughout the spring and summer.

VT Fish & Wildlife Urges Us to Remember Nongame Wildlife Tax Checkoff

Vermonters interested in conserving wildlife should donate to the Nongame Wildlife Fund on their state income tax form this year, according to the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. The fund helps protect some of Vermont’s most threatened wildlife such as bald eagles, lake sturgeon, spruce grouse, and bats.
