Environmental Leadership Training Unit 2: From Planning to Action

This training will help you choose locally appropriate land use planning strategies for conserving natural resources and explore how leaders can best work with groups to move ideas forward in a municipal context. It uses case studies and exercises to show how taking action can work in real life. The overall goal is to build an understanding of what you can do, how to work with different people in your community, how to choose strategies to protect natural resources, and how to make it all happen. Completion of Unit 1 is a pre-requisite for this training (or permission from instructors).

This training will introduce participants to important scientific concepts involved in planning for natural resources and focus on skills leaders need to operate effectively. Participants will explore the full suite of issues at play in natural resources planning, from forests and wildlife to floodplains and climate change. Presentations on context, ecological scale, and planning for whole Communities are interspersed with interactive hands-on activities that make this an intensive and exciting training.

National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) Basic Archery Instructor Training

This is a National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP®) Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) training. This training is primarily for school personnel and will allow your school to take part in NASP® and have access to the materials, curriculum and more.

Teen Conservation Weekend

Teens ages 15-17 are invited to spend a weekend full of fun and adventure at the Edward F Kehoe Conservation Camp. Participants will spend the weekend participating on activities taught by department biologists, wardens and other staff.

This is a perfect way to unplug and engage with peers outdoors before heading back to the classroom. Space is limited so register today!

Deadline to Apply- Junior Waterfowl Hunter Training Program

The Junior Waterfowl Hunter Training Program is a joint educational effort of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department, Ducks Unlimited, Delta Waterfowl, the Sportsman’s Club of Franklin County and volunteers to teach young hunters about waterfowl hunting. The program focuses on the knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible, respected individuals who strive to learn all they can about waterfowl and to become knowledgeable in firearms safety, hunter ethics and wildlife conservation.

Mentors and youths who would like to participate in this year's program must pre-register with the Refuge by Friday, August 4. Participation in the program will be limited to 30 enrollees.
