Introduction to Fly Tying

Learn the basics of fly tying in this fun, hands-on course! Course topics will include terminology, tools and basic fly patterns. This course is part of partnership between the Mad Dog Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Vermont Fish & Wildlife.

Date: Tuesday Evenings, February 19, March 5, 12, and 19. Participants must attend all 4 nights. 
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

There is a $20 materials fee payable to the Mad Dog Chapter of Trout Unlimited on the first night of class.

Intro to Canoe/Kayak Fishing

This program is perfect for the avid paddler looking to do a little bit more on the water. Instructors will cover regulations, casting, ecology, and more before going fishing on Waterbury Reservoir as a group. Fishing equipment will be provided but participants will need to bring their own canoe or Kayak and life jacket. No prior fishing experience is needed but paddling experience is a must!

When: Friday October 5th. 4:00pm-Sunset

Where: Waterbury Center State Park

Cost: Free with paid admission to the park

Let’s Go Fishing Clinic in Williston

Let's Go Fishing Clinic for Families with Children ages 6-14 
Williston Community Park

* FREE PROGRAM * 

Learn how to fish, build lures and find where the fish are with hands-on experience. Geared towards beginners, the program teaches families the proper skills and ethics of fishing, including respect for the resources and responsibility to know the rules. Children and adults learn water ecology, fish identification, habitat needs and fish location tips. Participants learn to use fishing gear and will make a lure they can take home. 

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-registration is required for this free event.

Instructor: Chuck Goller
Bio: 30 year Williston resident and avid outdoorman. Loves all manner of fishing. Active member of Central VT Trout Unlimited. VT Fish & Wildlife Let's Go Fishing Chief Instructor. Also, part-time ski instructor at Sugarbush Resort. Likes to hike, sail, waterski and backcountry ski.
