Introduction to Trout Fishing - Clinic is FULL

This clinic will teach the basics of fishing for trout using a standard fishing rod known as ‘spin casting gear.’ Participants will learn they don’t need fancy fishing gear or to successfully fly fish for Vermont’s premiere cold-water fish.

Introduction to Bullhead Fishing - POSTPONED

POSTPONED TO FRIDAY MAY 10 - WATER IS TOO HIGH

Date: Friday, April 26
Time: 6pm- 9pm

The clinic will explore different fishing styles to target bullhead, which are found in many of the shallower, muddier lakes, ponds, and rivers of Vermont. Brown bullhead, like other species in the catfish family, are nocturnal bottom feeders, so the clinic will take place in the evening when they are beginning to be active.

Introduction to Fishing with Planer Boards

This FREE four hour seminar is a basic introduction to trolling while utilizing planer boards. The seminar will cover the many aspects of the equipment used including vessel rigging, types of rods, reels, lines, lures and streamer fly presentations for targeted species.

Introduction to Fly Tying

Learn the basics of fly tying in this fun, hands-on course! Course topics will include terminology, tools and basic fly patterns. This course is part of partnership between the Mad Dog Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Vermont Fish & Wildlife.

Date: Tuesday Evenings, February 19, March 5, 12, and 19. Participants must attend all 4 nights.

There is a $20 materials fee payable to the Mad Dog Chapter of Trout Unlimited on the first night of class.
