Kids Fishing Event - Rutland

This event is part of the department’s Children’s Fishing Program, designed to give kids the opportunity for a fun and successful fishing experience. The event is sponsored by a local organization and the department provides 8 to 10” stocked trout for the kids to test out their angling skills.

Introduction to Fishing with Planer Boards

This FREE four hour seminar is a basic introduction to trolling while utilizing planer boards. The seminar will cover the many aspects of the equipment used including vessel rigging, types of rods, reels, lines, lures and streamer fly presentations for targeted species.

Introduction to Fly Tying

Learn the basics of fly tying in this fun, hands-on course! Course topics will include terminology, tools and basic fly patterns. This course is part of partnership between the Mad Dog Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Vermont Fish & Wildlife.

Date: Tuesday Evenings, February 19, March 5, 12, and 19. Participants must attend all 4 nights.

This FREE Clinic, sponsored by the Hartford Parks & Rec Department, will run in conjunction with their Youth Ice Fishing Derby. The clinic is open to people of all ages, making this a great way for families to learn how to fish together.

Volunteer trainers with the Let's Go Fishing Program encourage and teach young people and their families how to fish, emphasizing that fishing is more than just catching fish. Lunch will be provided.

Saturday, January 26, 2019 is Vermont’s next free ice fishing day - a day when anyone, resident or nonresident, may go fishing in Vermont without a fishing license.
