Introduction to Crossbows

As of 2020, crossbows are legal archery equipment anywhere a vertical bow can be used. This seminar is designed for new hunters or experienced hunters who may not be familiar with crossbows. We will talk about the way the crossbow works and the differences between vertical bows and crossbows as well as the safety precautions for both. We will have several different variants of the crossbow so we can demonstrate how they work. We will also go over the laws pertaining to crossbows and bow hunting in general.

Land Use and Wildlife: A History of Change

This educational talk lead by VTFWD Biologist Kim Royar, will discuss the history of land use change in Vermont and its influence on wildlife populations over time, in particular, beaver, otter, bobcat, wolves, and coyotes. A celebration of the successes of 20th century conservation efforts that brought many of Vermont’s iconic species back from the brink of extinction.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department is holding public informational meetings about Eastern coyotes which the department says have become well-established throughout Vermont and other northeastern states.

Vermont’s Furbearer Project Leader Kimberly Royar and Wildlife Ecologist Dr. David Person will hold the meetings as follows:

Tuesday, October 22 – 7:00 p.m. at the Weathersfield Conservation Commission, Weathersfield Community Center Road in Weathersfield.

Tuesday, December 17 -- 6:30 p.m. at the Barre Fish and Game Club, Gun Club Road, Barre.
